IIT Jodhpur: Sign Pact with NHAI to share Expertise for Development of Highway Infrastructure


National Highways Authority of India and The Indian Institute of Technology, Jodhpur have signed a contract to provide the institute expertise for the development of highway infrastructure.

The event was conducted at the IIT Jodhpur campus in the presence of Santanu Chaudhury, the Institute Director, and Ajay Bishnoi, GM (Tech) and Project Director, Project Implementation Unit (PIU) Jodhpur, NHAI, on Friday.

During the signing ceremony, Chaudhury stated, "As a part of this MoU, NHAI and IIT Jodhpur will work together in various domains, including transportation engineering, structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, hydraulics engineering, infrastructure systems, earthquake engineering, urban and rural planning and disaster mitigation and management with an objective of sharing."

The MoU will also offer IIT Jodhpur undergraduate and postgraduate students to take part in fully paid internships in the above field. Moreover, the combined activities will ensure to bridge the industry-institution gap and form new technologies that NHAI could implement in the real world.

Apart from this, the Director of IIT Jodhpur, Santanu Chaudhury, has also decided to expand the courses at IIT Jodhpur with the Unique AI programs and Data and Computational Sciences. It will initiate new ways for finding solutions to local, global, and social engineering problems in collaboration with Industry.
