New Delhi: IIT Jodhpur has successfully recorded 100% success rate for the postgraduate placements for the academic session 2021-22.

With a tremendous increase in PG placements this year, more than 200 companies recruited the postgraduate students from IIT Jodhpur

As a part of the MTech programme, several students were recruited and offered lucrative job offers across specialisations, as the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) disciplines witnessed robust placements.

This year, there was a significant growth in terms of M.Tech placements as the department saw an increase of 158% compared to that in the preceding year. 

The highest package offered this year has been recorded as an increase of about 90% from that in the previous year, which is due to the industry-aligned curriculum and specialised courses offered by the institute.

Pointing out the factors behind PG placement 2021-22, Professor and Director Santanu Chaudhury, IIT Jodhpur, said that the institute continues its endeavour to develop programmes and course pedagogy, providing both academic rigour and industry relevance.

Over a period of time, the institute has become one of the preferred choices for recruiters due to its inter-disciplinary and industry-aligned courses. 

Consequently, the institute has recorded a 100% success rate in placing 97% of B.Tech, 75 percent of M.Tech students and 100 percent of MBA students, during the current placement season, he said. 

Further, he said that the Career Development Cell (CDC) of the institute associates with the students and industry to succeed in finding life-long career fulfilment. 

The roles and profiles offered to the PG students during this placement season is a testament of the IIT Jodhpur's diversified and relevant courses

Moreover, the institute has successfully built coherent relationships with campus partners and strives to improve the experience of students’ as well as the recruiters’ every year, he added. 

In the placements 2021-22, there were a lot of prominent companies, such as Google, Mahindra & Mahindra, Samsung, L&T, ArcelorMittal, Nippon Steel, and ICICI Bank, who recruited the PG students across various specialisations.

Some of the first-time recruiters were American Express, Deloitte, Sutherland, Royal Enfield, Maruti Suzuki, Gartner, Pickrr, Udaan, Tata Elxsi, Eeki Foods, and Lightstorm, among others, who hired the students for various roles. 

Some of the roles for which the students were employed during the placements were Business Analyst, R&D Engineer, System Engineer, Management Trainee , Software Developer, etc.

Commenting about the placement process, Anuj Pal Kapoor, faculty in-charge, CDC at IIT Jodhpur, said that the institute has witnessed a promising start to the campus placements following the COVID-19. 

The students' performance and the curriculum are a testament to the institute's grit and gumption during the toughest times. The M.Tech placements have been very extremely favorable, with a gamut of industry recruiting the students for multiple roles. The institute is hopeful to record successful placements in the upcoming future, Kapoor said. 

The Industry-oriented courses are co-built and co-taught between faculty and industry experts at the institute, which assists students to understand the fundamentals and the practical nuances. 

This year, the CDC, IIT Jodhpur is working on developing capability-building courses for all the students, which is also being curated with the help of industry professionals, faculty members and recruitment specialists.

These courses would provide students to choose from various workshops and resources curated according to their interests and career goals. 

Furthermore, the institute is planning to conduct advising and coaching sessions for students, which will focus on industry and other realms, such as civil services, research etc.

An entrepreneurial venture by itself, the School of Management and Entrepreneurship (SME), has ingrained itself in the futuristic technology environment of IIT Jodhpur and has an adaptive curriculum, primarily focusing on accommodating the advancement in the business landscape.

The SME offers a committed track for MBA-Tech and the conventional MBA track.
