IIT Jodhpur Signs MOU with Whizhack Technologies to Launch Centre Of Excellence In Cyber Security And AI; Check Details Here


Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jodhpur inked an MOU with Whizhack Technologies to launch a new Centre of Excellence (CoE) for innovations in IoT, Cyber Security, and Artificial Intelligence on December 22, 2020.

The signing ceremony was done at the campus of the Institute. Co-founders of WhizHack Technologies - Kallol Sil, Kaushik Ray, and Sanjay Sengupta, Professor Santanu Chaudhury, Director, IIT Jodhpur, Dr. Ram Prakash, and Prof Surajit Ghosh were present during the ceremony.

WhizHack Technologies aims to be the 1st Indian human capital development and product engineering company to manage the complete value chain of a secured cyber environment. 

Given the Government's priority to strengthen India's cybersecurity resources, the dearth in India's cybersecurity workforce, and the burgeoning security breaches, this MOU is aptly timed.

The CoE will help advance technological and scientific products and service IPs to protect the assets of India’s strategic importance like Enterprises and digital forensics for Police and Defence forces and government infrastructure. 

In the coming time, the CoE plans to launch Part-time M. Tech. programs specializing in Cyber Security for young graduates and working professionals and Certificate Learning Programs for placement linked skill training in Cyber Defense.

Director, IIT Jodhpur, Prof Santanu Chaudhury said, "Emerging technologies like Cyber Security are crucial for India's self-reliance in national digital security and youth empowerment by bringing together the best of Indian and global academic excellence and industrial knowledge. He believes nowadays most of the focus is on cybersecurity offence wherein the real need is to teach our youth cybersecurity defence from Advanced Persistent Threats (APT's),"

MD of WhizHack Technologies, Kallol Sil spoke on the MOU and said that the collaboration with IIT Jodhpur was a great opportunity for exporting talent and capacity building for the cybersecurity industry. 

He added that they want to empower Indians and leverage the large cybersecurity market of the country. Further, such steps were important to deal with an increased number of cybercriminals in the country.

As per the data of NASSCOM, the rise of the digital economy, data protection, and privacy laws are going to create over 2 million new cybersecurity-related jobs and lead to a USD 35 million revenue opportunity. 

However, the shortage of the Indian cybersecurity workforce is already greater than 10% that of the global average. As such, there is an urgent need to address the demands of job-ready security professionals by initiating skill-based programmes.
