IIT Jodhpur Launches MTech-PhD dual Degree Programme in Sensors & IoT


New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jodhpur has launched a new MTech and PhD Dual degree programme in Sensors and Internet of Things (IoT).

With an aim to produce skilled graduates with in-depth understanding of Sensors and IoT systems, along with sensor design, fabrication, calibration, characterization, interfacing, and applications to IoT, IIT Jodhpur has launched the dual degree programme.

According to the official IIT-Jodhpur statement, the graduates enrolled under the dual degree programme will eventually be ready to contribute to a variety of domains including smart agriculture, transportation, environment monitoring, healthcare, smart wearable, and industrial IoT.

The programme will primarily focus on Applications of Sensors and Internet of Things (sIoT), including smart agriculture, transportation, environment monitoring, healthcare, and smart wearable, the statement said. 

IIT Jodhpur Dual Degree Programme 2022: Eligibility Criteria 

The MTech Program in sIoT has been curated and designed for young innovators, providing them a breadth as well as depth for designing systems for the current era of sIoT. 

The MTech-PhD Dual Degree program will have the same course work as MTech sIoT for the first two years.

However, the Dual Degree program has been structured specifically to encourage talented and motivated BTech and MSc students to undertake direct PhD study in the area of sIoT. 

Thus, candidates seeking admission to the dual degree programme must have pursued BTech or MSc to be eligible to apply. 

The statement revealed that the dual degree programme will offer deeper theoretical learning through various verticals by theory and laboratory courses. 

Hands- on experiments and projects will be offered to enhance the learning. Moreover, two additional years will be dedicated towards research contributions for dual degree PhD programmes.
