IIT Jammu Inaugurates Fully Functional “Tinkering Lab” on Campus; Read Details Here


New Delhi: IIT Jammu has inaugurated a first of its kind, fully operational “Tinkering Lab” on campus for students to learn, grow, conceptualise their ideas, and engage in hands-on learning. The labs will be entirely facilities and managed by the institute students.

As per IIT Jammu , the newly established Tinkering Lab is fully equipped with a wide range of tools that facilitate the rapid prototyping required to offer the best experience to students. The main motto of the lab is "Enter with an idea, leave with a product." 

Informing about the event, Ruyintan Mehta stated that the inauguration was held in the presence of prominent guests and dignitaries. The event included a detailed tour of the lab's equipment and active projects completed entirely by the student team of IIT Jammu.

The team members gave an overview of ongoing and finished projects in the tinkering lab, including the Flipkart grid 3.0 bots, which secured second place nationally, robotic arms, Smart Google with Blind Stick, Quad Robot, Quadcopter, Portable Water Filter, and Cubical satellite. 

The manager of the tinkering lab, Dharmik Shah, delivered a thorough presentation on the aims, mission, goals for the future, and current initiatives of the lab. Several DIP projects, both ongoing and finished, were also discussed during the inauguration event. 

The inauguration of “Tinkering Lab” was done in the presence of Sharad Kumar Saraf, Board of Governors, IIT Jammu who joined the event as a chief guest, Ruyintan Mehta from MBF, and Rishi Pathania from CSR of UPL (United Phosphorus Limited). 

Additionally, Kamakshi Singh from JKDFC (J&K Development Finance Corporation Limited), and Damyanti Bhattacharya, CEO of Maker Bhavan Foundation, also attended the inaugural event on the campus ground.
