New Delhi: IIT Hyderabad along with the women entrepreneurs of Sarvodaya Women Entrepreneurs Cottage Industry is ready to begin an incubation centre on the campus.

IIT Hyderabad will provide all feasible assistance to Sarvodaya Women Entrepreneurs Cottage Industry which is located in Gongulur village in Sangareddy district by allotting space for the incubation centre at the Research and Incubation Park at IIT Hyderabad.

Prof BS Murthy, Director of IIT Hyderabad stated that they will send Chemistry and Chemical Engineering students to the cottage industry to improve the methods produced by the Cottage Industry Women for creating soaps and other items.

He also stated that IIT students will assist female entrepreneurs in marketing their products by establishing an e-platform and mobile application.

Meanwhile, the Director approached the Sarvodaya Foundation for assisting IIT Hyderabad in establishing a cottage industry in their villages at Kandi and Mamidipally.

Suzuki Innovation Centre representatives Akari Tanoura, Yokoi Minori, Prathyusha Thammineni, Vipula Nath Jindal, and others joined the IIT-H Director, Sarvodaya Foundation Founder Dr P Sudhakar Nayak IRS, DRDO Project Director Ch Srinivas Rao, MPDO Mrudula, and Sarpanch Lakshmi Ramachandra Reddy.

Recently, IIT Hyderabad inaugurated Technology Research Park on its campus to support in bridging the gap between the industry and academics. Funded by the Union Ministry of Education and built at a cost of INR 75 crore, the technology research park will feature facilities on a par with international standards. 

It will be administered as an independent Section 8 Company, founded, promoted and hosted by IITH to bring the industry close to IITH so that the institute can develop innovative technologies through collaboration. The Tech Park aim is to offer infrastructure and facilities for the industry partners.

Apart from this, IIT Hyderabad will launch Suzuki Innovation Center on its campus ground in collaboration with the Japanese company, Suzuki Motor Corporation. The innovative centre will be a joint platform for both organizations to share knowledge, resources between India and Japan.
