IIT Hyderabad to Launch Suzuki Innovation Center at its Campus: Know More Here


New Delhi: IIT Hyderabad is now preparing to launch Suzuki Innovation Center on its campus ground in collaboration with the Japanese company, Suzuki Motor Corporation. The innovative centre will work as a joint platform for both organizations to share knowledge.

As per the official statement of IIT Hyderabad, the agreement between Suzuki Motor Corporation and the institute is for a period of three years. During the agreement, the Suzuki Innovation Center will support skill development and there will be an exchange of resources between India and Japan.

With the establishment of the Suzuki Innovation Center, IIT Hyderabad will have an opportunity to strengthen the relationship between India and Japan. It is the first time when IIT Hyderabad has joined hands with a foreign company for knowledge exchange, the officials added. 

While talking about the initiative, BS Murty, Director of IIT Hyderabad said, “It is a result of cumulative success stories between Suzuki Motor Corporation and IITH over the years. The philosophy of this program is to create inclusive value for the Indian and Japanese societies''.

Under the agreement, the IIT Hyderabad and Suzuki Motor Corporation will work together with upcoming stakeholders on finding major challenges on and beyond mobility, in India and Japan, he added. 

He also stated that the Suzuki Innovation Center at IIT Hyderabad is also a testament to the leaders of the institute. "Very young and dynamic alumni of IITH: Vipul Nath Jindal and Prathyusha Thammineni, who have led the whole initiative from ground-up,” he said. 

Earlier, in 2021, IIT Hyderabad had signed an agreement with one of the top institutes of Japan, the National Institute for Material Science (NIMS) for launching a joint research centre. The initiative was taken to achieve sustainable research results in the material science field.

Under the IIT Hyderabad-NIMS Japan agreement, the institute also offered an International Cooperative Graduate Program (ICGP) to its undergraduate and postgraduate students. The program provided an opportunity for students to pursue their PhD Program at NIMS, Japan.

Apart from IIT Hyderabad, National Institute for Material Science, Japan has also collaborated with the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT-G), Anna University, and other top Indian universities in the past. 

PhD at IIT Hyderabad:

At IIT Hyderbad, the PhD program is offered under 14 different disciplines, which are Artificial Intelligence, Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, Civil Engineering, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Science Engineering, and Design among others. 

Students who are interested in applying for IITH PhD Programs are required to have mentioned national-level entrance exam scores. For now, applications for DIA fellowships (ASEAN countries students) are open for PhD admissions. The last date to apply is April 15, 2022.

The selection of candidates for IIT Hyderabad Admission for PhD seats is done based on candidates' scores in qualifying entrance exam, performance in mandatory interview round, and research paper proposals.
