IIT Hyderabad Launches M.Tech in Techno-Entrepreneurship; Register by April 3, 2022

New Delhi: IIT Hyderabad has launched a new M.Tech programme in Techno-Entrepreneurship, which aims to nurture an entrepreneurial mindset among the graduates. 

The Department of Entrepreneurship and Management (EM) of IIT Hyderabad has introduced the course. M.Tech in Techno- Entrepreneurship is curated with an objective to equip science, engineering, and technology graduates with necessary skills and knowledge to pursue entrepreneurship. 

IIT Hyderabad M.Tech Techno-Entrepreneurship 2022: Highlights 

Further, the M.Tech program intends to provide an ecosystem where the students can convert their entrepreneurial ideas into successful ventures. The founders, co-founders, and top management of startups and established ventures will be invited as speakers in various events and workshops organised by the EM department.

The M.Tech programme is ideal for fresh graduates interested in learning and honing requisite skills to develop an entrepreneurial idea into building a minimum viable product and eventually scale it up into a business.

This IIT Hyderabad course has a total of 48 credits across two years, consisting of two semesters each year with 12 credits to be completed by the student in each semester. 

IIT Hyderabad M.Tech Admission 2022: Eligibility Criteria 

In order to apply for IIT Hyderabad M.Tech Admission 2022, interested candidates must meet the requisite eligibility criteria which are as follows, 

• Candidates must hold a B.Sc, B.Des, B.Arch, BTech or a BE degree (including early career professionals) with 60% marks or equivalent CGPA. 
• Candidates shortlisted must pass a written test and interview conducted by the EM department .
• Failure to provide final proof of the qualifying undergraduate degree at the time of registration at the institute will lead to the cancellation of the applicant’s admission.

IIT Hyderabad M.Tech Admission 2022: Selection Process 

Candidates must note that mere fulfilment of the minimum educational qualifications does not necessarily entitle applicants to be called for written test/interview. The institute reserves the right to call only the requisite number of potential candidates based on qualification and suitability.

The institute has planned to tentatively conduct the written tests and interviews in May-June 2022. Candidate's selection for the MTech program will be based on a multistage shortlisting process (written test, short-writeup on a proposed entrepreneurship idea and interview). 

IIT Hyderabad M.Tech Admission 2022: How to Apply?

• Visit the official application portal of IIT Hyderabad, iith.ac.in
• Register yourself by filling the required details, such as Mobile number, Email Id etc.
• Now, login with your registration credentials and fill all details in the Application form.
• Pay the application fee of INR 500 and submit the Application form. 
• Applicants must also take a print out of the form for all future needs.

Note: The deadline to submit application form is April 3, 2022 and the programme will begin in August, 2022. 

IIT Hyderabad Director on Newly Launched M.Tech Program

Speaking about the M.Tech programme’s relevance with NEP 2020, B S Murty, Director, IITH, said the institute has a rich entrepreneurial ecosystem with the EM department at the forefront of training and preparing students in the domain of entrepreneurship and management. 

Mapping the main aim of the M.Tech programme, M P Ganesh, head of department, Entrepreneurship and Management, IITH, said that traditionally, the effectiveness of higher educational institutions is measured by the level of employability of the students it graduates. 

At present, the institute is moving away from the paradigm of producing employable students who are ready for the future job market to creating entrepreneurs who can become self-employed and create employment for others, he said. 

Ganesh said that it is the need of the hour for such a focused PG level programme that integrates courses in entrepreneurship and management along with science, engineering, and technology to ensure that startups proliferate in the core domains.

As a result, the M.Tech course will provide a platform for young minds to foster and build upon innovative, critical, and entrepreneurial thinking for developing deep technology-based solutions to some of the primary societal problems, he said.
