IIT Hyderabad Inaugurates its 1.5 lakh sq ft Tech Research Park; Check Details


New Delhi: IIT Hyderabad has inaugurated a 1.5 lakh sq ft Technology Research Park on its campus to assist in bridging the gap between the industry and academia. 

Srivari Chandrasekhar, secretary, Department of Science & Science of Technology, Government of India, inaugurated the technology research park on the IIT-H campus. 

Some of the prominent dignitaries present during the inauguration were Dr BVR Mohan Reddy, Chairman, BoG, IITH, Mr SAITO Mitsunori, Chief Representative, JICA, Mr. Shingo Miyamoto, Minister of Economic & Development, Embassy of Japan, Prof B S Murty, Director, IITH. Prof KVL Subramaniam, Dean (Planning), IITH, Prof Ch Subrahmanyam, FIC, TRP, who welcomed the gathering and delivered the welcome address. 

The Technology Research Park aims to provide infrastructure and facilities for the industry partners to establish their research and technology development centres on the institute campus. 

Funded by the Union Ministry of Education and built at a cost of INR 75 crore, the technology research park will feature facilities on a par with international standards. 

The research park at IITH is administered as an independent Section 8 Company, founded, promoted & hosted by IITH & industry professionals to bring the industry close to IITH so that the institute can develop innovative technologies through collaboration.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Chandrasekhar assured the commitment of the Government of India towards technological development as presented by the Union financial Minister during Budget 2022. 

He said that the city has a very vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem. Technology Research Park and Technology Incubation Park buildings conceived by IIT Hyderabad Director BS Murty are testimonial facilities for those who cannot work at home. 

Further, he urged the students to go from job-seekers to job-givers and all premier institutes to work on non-software technologies. 

Addressing the gathering, Prof Murthy said that he's confident that the park would be a cradle for strong and long-term industry-IITH collaboration to realise Atma Nirbhar Bharat. 

He concluded by saying that the research park at IIT Hyderabad will help grow the institute's international relations with several global industries. 

Prof Ch Subrahmanyam, Faculty-in-Charge, Technology Research Park, delivered the vote of thanks at the inaugural ceremony.

Recently, the institute collaborated with Youth4jobs and Kotak Mahindra Bank and introduced a unique platform, Swarajability, that has developed an artificial intelligence triggered Job portal for differently-abled persons like those who have hearing impairment, visual impairment, and locomotive disorders.
