IIT Hyderabad Collaborates with LVPEI to Launch M.Tech in Ophthalmic Engineering Course; Apply Till July 07, 2022

New Delhi: IIT Hyderabad's Centre for Interdisciplinary Program (CIP) has joined hands with L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) to introduce M.Tech in Ophthalmic Engineering programme for the academic session 2022-23. The last date to apply is July 07, 2022.

The LVPEI has launched the M.Tech programme in collaboration with IIT Hyderabad through their combined expertise in ophthalmic care and in engineering and technology from August 2022.

The blended M.Tech in Ophthalmic Engineering course of IIT Hyderabad intends to create a pool of qualified ophthalmic engineers who would take up the alarming challenges in eye care and develop technology products in today's fast-paced world.

IITH M.Tech Admission 2022: Highlights 

According to the IITH statement, the two-year M.Tech programme is a unique, promising programme that is likely to create professionals who are willing to take up technical challenges in ophthalmology as a start-up. 

The M.Tech programme is ideal for medical school graduates, ophthalmologists, optometrists, and engineers interested in advancing their careers in the field of technology-enabled eye care and vision science.

IITH M.Tech Admission 2022: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates seeking admission into the self-sponsored M.Tech programme will have to meet the requisite eligibility criteria:

• Candidates must have passed B.Tech in any Engineering stream. 
• Candidates must hold an MBBS degree or MD/MS in Ophthalmology. 
• Candidates must have pursued a four-year BS or MS in Optometry. 
• Candidates must have studied M.Sc in Physics/Applied Physics from a recognised university.

IITH M.Tech Admission 2022: How To Apply?

• Step 1: Visit the official website of IIT Hyderabad, at iith.ac.in.
• Step 2: Register yourself after filling in the required details such as Name, Email Id, Contact Number etc.
• Step 3: Now, log in with your registration credentials and fill in all details in the Application form.
• Step 4: Pay the application fee and submit the Application form. 
• Step 5: Applicants must also take a printout of the form for all future needs.

IITH M.Tech Admission 2022: Course Curriculum 

The self-sponsored M.Tech programme requires the students to complete 52 credits across two years, consisting of 2 semesters in the first year with 14 credits or semester.

The programme also intends for the learners to complete mandatory courses in communication skills and industry lecture series in the first two semesters, enabling them to become effective speakers and establish contacts with the industry leaders within two years. 

Further, the students will get an opportunity to select a few courses from a gamut of courses to complete the 14-credit requirement in each semester, constituting 18 core credits in various fields of ophthalmology, vision science, and various engineering aspects in eye care and ten credits of electives from the related subject domain. 

Speaking about the M.Tech programme’s relevance, Professor B S Murty, Director, IITH, said that the programme would offer an excellent platform to develop new indigenous products in Eyecare, aligning with the national mission of Aatma Nirbhar Bharat. 

He also said that this unique program would nurture a pool of talented ophthalmic engineers who would certainly advance eye care and work toward the mission of a blindness society.
