IIT Hyderabad Collaborates with Hyundai Mobis for Research on Advanced Auto Tech


New Delhi: IIT Hyderabad has joined hands with Hyundai Mobis as part of a strategic move to enhance the pace of research in Advanced Automotive Technologies. As part of the partnership, IIT-H will utilize its expertise in the field of machine learning, Hardware prototypes and mathematical modelling. 

IIT Hyderabad will be applying its skills and expertise to solve India-specific issues with the Advanced Driving Assistance System (ADAS) and Hardware Resource Optimisation techniques.

Prof. S Murthy, Director of Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad commented, “With this collaboration, IIT-H aims to further strengthen its expertise in the field of Automotive industry, specific to advanced automotive technologies like ADAS. This pact will enable our researchers to answer the unsolved challenges and equip IIT-H to prepare industry-ready human resources with domain expertise to achieve our motto of inventing and innovating in technology for humanity.”

Mobis India Ltd., on the other hand, will be working on mechatronics(Chassis, safety and Vision Systems), vehicle infotainment, and CAE. Their focus area will be on software development in the state of the art automotive technology. 

These projects will be carried out at Mobis India Ltd., which is the R&D centre for Hyundai Mobis which in turn is a global strategic business partner of Hyundai and Kia Motor Company.

Commenting on this collaboration with IIT-H, Mr Jae Oh Cha, Chief Technical Officer, said, ‘Mobis India Limited (Mobis Technical Centre of India) is happy to collaborate with IIT Hyderabad for future technology development in advanced driver assistance systems and Chassis systems for the Indian Automobile Market. We are looking forward to increasing the collaboration in the future.’
