New Delhi: IIT Hyderabad has collaborated with Cyient, a global engineering, manufacturing, and digital technology solutions company, to launch a private 5G Networks Center of Excellence (CoE).
As a part of the collaboration, the Cyient has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IIT Hyderabad as a research partner for the CoE, that will be located in Cyient's facility in Hyderabad.
The Centre for Excellence, COE will combine Cyient's enterprise and network experience with the institute's research and tech expertise to develop and test private 5G network solutions.
Developed by IITH, the Cyient will leverage a 5G core for testing various digital use cases and interoperability with best-of-breed components from industry leaders.
Speaking on the launch of the CoE, Mr. Prabhakar Atla, SVP and Head of Communications & Utilities business unit, Cyient, said that the enterprises across industries identify the merits of private 5G networks and are looking for a reliable network solution that will cater to their unique business context and enable their digital transformation.
Further, the private 5G Networks CoE will create, test and prove robust network solutions. The CoE will immensely benefit from the institute's expertise while the company will continue to evolve the CoE through collaboration with network solution providers, said Atla.
On the collaboration with Cyient, Prof. B.S. Murty, Director, IIT Hyderabad, said that the institute has been at the forefront of research and advancement of 5G communication technologies.
He said that the collaboration with industry will provide the institute with an excellent opportunity to develop advanced technical solutions with far-reaching business consequences.
Expressing his excitement for the journey ahead, Murthy said that the institute has had a very enriching relationship with Cyient - collaborating on 5G chipset design and endowing a chair for research in new-age communication. The collaboration will deepen with the private 5G CoE.
Apart from this collaboration, the institute recently, partnered with the women entrepreneurs of Sarvodaya Women Entrepreneurs Cottage Industry to begin an incubation centre on the campus.
