IIT Hyderabad and Continental Hospital Partnered up to Launch Primary Health Care


New Delhi: IIT Hyderabad has collaborated with Continental Hospital to arrange regular visits of consultants in several specialisations. IIT Hyderabad has already built a permanent space for its primary health care clinic at the G+1 building with the support from JICA, Japan.

Dr. T Gurunath Reddy, the Founder and Chairman, Continental Hospitals inaugurated the primary healthcare centre at IIT Hyderabad. He was the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony. The other eminent guests included Dr. BVR Mohan Reddy, Chairman, BoG, IIT Hyderabad and Professor BS Murty Garu, the Director. 

The existing healthcare facility of the institute will be shifted to its new premises during the next month. The institute is also planning to set up a primary diagnostic facility, in support of JCI and NABh accredited Continental Hospitals in its new facility. 

We will not only collaborate with Continental Hospitals for setting up the basic diagnostic facilities at IITH but also would like this to be extended to teleconsulting from Continental experts in various specialisations for better healthcare of the IITH fraternity”, as stated by Professor BS Murthy regarding the collaboration.

In the meantime, the institute also managed to develop a portable, cost-effective, lo T-enabled ventilator powered by Lithium ion batteries. As per the official statement, the ventilator is now available for the public. Telangana and Puducheryy Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan launched the smart ventilator called ‘Jeevan Lite’ on Thursday, March 24, 2022. While the regular imported ventilator costs INR 10-15 lakhs per unit, each unit of this new one costs INR 4 lakhs.
