New Delhi: IIT Guwahati has recently launched a new B.Tech Program in Energy Engineering from the academic session 2022-2023. The program will be offered to students under the School of Energy Science and Engineering of the institute.
As per IIT Guwahati, the first batch of newly launched B.Tech in Energy Engineering will include a total of 20 students. The selection process will be done through JEE Advanced counselling process.
IIT Guwahati B.Tech Program aims to bridge the gap between humanities, science, engineering, economics, management, and policymaking by incorporating Energy Management, Societal and Environmental Impact Studies, and other programs.
While speaking about the IIT Guwahati Course, T G Sitharam, Director said, “The program will provide a fundamental understanding of renewable energy infrastructure, system development for sustainable carbon-neutral growth, energy storage, distribution, and much more".
He further added that the program will develop skilled human resources which will be capable of implementing and using technological interventions in energy generation, storage increase, and distribution methods.
Adding to the statement, K Mohanty, Head of the School stated that the program will include various interesting courses such as energy innovation & design thinking, community engagement & entrepreneurship program, energy materials & device fabrication laboratory, etc.
Students who will be selected for the program under IIT Guwahati Admission 2022 will have the opportunity to continue their entrepreneurship program in the last two semesters in lieu of two elective courses, the officials further added.
As of now, IIT Guwahati offers admission to its B.Tech under 10 different courses. The courses available under the program are CSE, ECE, Mechanical, Civil, BioSciences and Bio, Chemical, Electronics and Electrical, Engineering Physics, CST, and Mathematics And Computing.
The admission to the IIT-G Program is done on the basis of marks secured by candidates in JEE Advanced, personal interview round, and overall admission score. The final selection of candidates for admission seats is done through the final merit list released by the institute.
Candidates who are interested in applying for IIT Guwahati B.Tech Program must note that the admission process for the same is expected to start from March 08, 2022. Students are advised to keep a tab on the institute's website at www.iitg.ac.in for the latest admission updates.
