IIT Gandhinagar opens applications for PG programme

New Delhi: IIT Gandhinagar (IITGN) in New Delhi has begun accepting applications for its postgraduate programme in cognitive science and society and culture for the upcoming academic year. Applying for the programme is open until January 25, 2023 at admissions.iitgn.ac.in.

To provide students with a variety of interdisciplinary abilities, IITGN offers master's degree programmes in cognitive science (MSc) and society and culture (MA). Any bachelor's degree holder from any field is eligible to apply for these courses.

Students who pursue an MSc in cognitive science will have career opportunities in fields like education, user experience (UX) design, linguistic analysis, data analysis, product development, design, and artificial intelligence (AI) engineering, among others. They will also have opportunities in fields like consumer behaviour, robotics, and cognitive rehabilitation. Students will also have access to academic positions such as teaching or research in the human-computer interface, neurology, and decision-making, as well as international PhDs.

After earning an MA in society and culture, students can find employment in NGOs, policy think tanks, and professional fields like journalism, advertising, media, communications, writing, and human resources. It will be possible to pursue academic positions in the areas of teaching and research in ecological sciences and public policy, among others.

The IIT Gandhinagar (IITGN) programmes offer students research opportunities such as running experiments in cutting-edge cognitive science fields like perception, curiosity, motor learning, decision making, robotics, cognitive rehabilitation, consumer behaviour, and music cognition; conducting fieldwork and ethnographic research; visiting historical and archaeological sites in Gujarat; travelling across the nation with IIT Gandhinagar (IIT Gandhinagar) Explorer Fellowships; and taking part in other research activities.

IIT Gandhinagar's head of the humanities and sciences discipline, Jaison A. Manjaly, emphasised the special features of these two courses by saying: "The potential of interdisciplinary knowledge and skills is enormous in our times that lead us to new ways of thinking and finding a solution to a problem. In order to enhance and broaden a student's learning experience, IITGN has designed all of its courses to be adaptable and multidisciplinary in character. A deeper understanding of their setting is possible thanks to the MA in Society and Culture, which supports students in developing a variety of viewpoints on social and cultural issues. On the other hand, the MSc in Cognitive Science provides a deeper comprehension of the mind, brain, and cognition to unravel the complexity of the human brain and behaviour.
