New Delhi: Since its founding in 2008, which is around 14 years, the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) claimed receiving over Rs 100 crore in charitable donations.

The majority of donors to IIT Gandhinagar’s charitable endeavours have been non-IITGN alumni, primarily of Gujarati ancestry or based in India or overseas. Such donations help fund initiatives for community welfare, academic excellence scholarships, research funding, faculty and program-specific chairs, and financial aid for students, among other things.
Alumni of the institute have made contributions to their alma mater, according to the IITGN press release. More than 50% of them gave to the IITGN's yearly donation during the early years of their professional lives, and a number of them have created endowed scholarships to help present students.
IITGN director Rajat Moona stated of the accomplishment: "IITGN is a pathfinder that has created numerous new frontiers for its contemporaries. Crossing Rs 100 crore in charitable donations, mostly from non-alumni well-wishers, is a testament to the organization's ideas and vision as well as how they were translated into deeds and outcomes. We express our gratitude to our donors for their confidence in us and their support of our commitment to excellence in many fields, and we promise to take on new challenges and promote creative solutions to advance science and technology for the benefit of society.
Mukesh Shah, managing partner of Shah Bhogilal Jethalal & Bros (AAAG India), who has established an endowment to support academic and research excellence at IITGN, congratulated the institution and said: "With advanced infrastructure and the capability to carry out world-class research, it is no wonder that IITGN has garnered reputation around the world and achieved this milestone in less than 15 years. We are honoured to be affiliated with this esteemed Institute, and I can state with certainty that this is only the start of a much longer and more successful success story for IITGN.
