IIT Delhi and IIIT Delhi Invite Professors to Collaborate on Cutting-Edge Research Initiatives; Check Details Here

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT Delhi) has invited faculty members from both institutions to submit joint research projects in cutting-edge areas like computer science and engineering, artificial intelligence and machine learning, electronics and communication engineering, computational biology, social science and humanities, and quantum computing.

Both IIT Delhi and IIIT Delhi had agreed to create a collaborative platform for mutual benefit early this year.

The agreement aimed to establish broad collaborations in academics, research, product and process growth, and human resource development that would have a significant socioeconomic impact.

An external expert committee examined the proposals and chose five to receive a seed grant. The projects selected for seed grant include:

  • Anxiety and human brain structure research.
  • Femtech and its prospects in India.
  • Nanodevice development.
  • Srinivasa Ramanujan proposed mathematical theories.
  • Deep-model transfer assessment that is model agnostic.

Ranjan Bose, Director, IIIT Delhi, said, “The collaborative initiative by IIT Delhi and IIIT Delhi has already brought together faculty members from both institutes, inspired them to define problems of mutual interest, exchange expertise, and also build personal relations.”

He further stated that he is looking forward that this cooperation between both the institutes will help improve the posture of technological innovation and next-generation research.

V Ramgopal Rao, Director, IIT Delhi added, “We foresee that our partnership with IIIT Delhi will engender an environment of exchange of information and technical know-how."

The initiatives, which are valid for two years, attempt to acquire full-fledged funding from other organisations depending on their outcomes.

These projects will be carried out under the multi-institutional faculty interdisciplinary projects (MFIRP) plan of IIT Delhi's Industrial Research & Development (IRD) section.
