New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-B) will receive a grant of USD $240,000 from the VMware University Research Fund (VMURF) for its Computing Systems Education and Research Lab (CSERL) project. The investment will be made over the course of two years in stages.

As per IIT Bombay, the CSERL program aims to advance research on technologies like Modern Enterprise Systems for academics and businesses. It will cover computer, network, storage, multi-cloud, mobile systems, edge, contemporary apps, and data, as well as applicable technologies like Blockchain, 5G, and 6G.

Under this, the modern business systems research and engineering development approaches will receive more attention from CSERL. In order to expedite systems research, it will also concentrate on developing an ideal organisational ecosystem at the centre and promoting India's skills in the field of advanced systems research.

Through this initiative, the platform will concentrate on creating academic curricula and content with an emphasis on systems, and it will also carry out outreach initiatives like annual workshops and summer and winter schools.

The main objectives of CSERL activities are to provide academic programmes and material, work on cutting-edge modern computing systems research subjects and projects, and offer venues for learning and cooperation.

According to the official announcement, the goal of the research and capacity-building initiatives is to have a favourable impact on the ability to work in research, academia, and industry. The platform will influence and advance systems research practice in India.
