IIT (BHU) Varanasi, Partners with Applied Materials for Semiconductor Research; Details Here


The Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi is partnering with Applied Materials India Pvt Ltd, the Indian subsidiary of materials engineering firm Applied Materials, Inc., to conduct semiconductor research. 

As part of the partnership, Applied Materials India Pvt Ltd will assist IIT (BHU) students to equip themselves with an in-depth knowledge and strong learning on advancements in materials engineering. 

Speaking about the collaboration with IIT (BHU), Srinivas Satya, Country president and Managing Director, Applied Materials India, said that it will enhance the industry-academia relationship towards addressing materials engineering challenges in the semiconductor industry.

He said that they're looking forward to assisting in training young and aspiring engineering students in the advanced technology field. 

In association with Applied Materials India, IIT (BHU) will have access to expertise in Materials engineering and semiconductor process technology. 

Earlier, Applied Materials India in partnership with IIT (BHU) Varanasi sponsored characterisation equipment for the institute’s Central Instrument Facility that enabled students to get hands-on experience in structural characterisation of materials.

Pramod Kumar Jain, Director, IIT (BHU) Varanasi said that the research collaboration of Applied Materials India and IIT (BHU) Varanasi is an industry-academia relations example. The electronics industry is highly important to the global economy and the Indian government has attached a high importance to electronic hardware as an essential pillar for programmes like ‘Make in India’ and ‘Digital India’ programmes. 

Professor Rajiv Prakash, Dean, Research & Development, IIT (BHU) Varanasi, said that there's a long history of collaboration of the School of Materials Science and Technology at IIT (BHU) Varanasi with Applied Materials India and the latest partnership has brought the relationship closer and strengthened the semiconductor research community.
