IIT-BHU Foundation Gets INR 5 Crore for School of Decision Sciences And Engineering; Check Details Here


New Delhi: IIT BHU Foundation, a non-profit association of alumni of the institute based in the United States has been gifted INR 5 crore from Naresh C Jain to set up a new school of Decision Sciences and Engineering.

Being an alumnus of IIT BHU, Mr Naresh C Jain is a student of the batch of 1967. He's a philanthropist and founder of Diamond Express Car Wash, Inc. As a result, the new school will be named ‘Naresh C Jain School of Decision Sciences and Engineering. 

According to the institute's reports, the new school will train the technical manpower of the institute and beyond, in all aspects of people and process management by having motivated and dedicated faculties with an enabling course curriculum that provides layered learning experiences. 

Courses like Master of Technology, MTech and PhD programmes in Decision Sciences and Engineering with a detailed emphasis on practical learning and applied research will be offered at the school. 

The main focus will be on four research areas including logistics and supply chain management, manufacturing systems engineering, healthcare systems management and agribusiness management.

Expressing his delight, Mr Jain said that he feels obliged to the Indian taxpayers who paid his education and that now he feels indebted to pack his debt to his alma mater. 

He said that he's confident that the school of Decision Sciences and Engineering will achieve its goal of becoming a global leader in producing exceptional decision-makers with professional integrity and values who will contribute to society's progress. 

Speaking about the new school, Arun Tripathi, President of the IIT (BHU) Foundation, said that Naresh Jain has been a long-time supporter of the institute and would send funds as assistance to the students in need at the Institute via Western Union, before the establishment of IIT (BHU) Foundation. 

Jain is one of the institute's most accomplished alumni and the binding force behind the IIT-BHU foundation. With this gift, the institute has secured half of the funding required for the infrastructure of the new school, Tripathi said. 

Further, Jain is demonstrating not just loyalty and support for his alma mater, but a true belief in the mission and vision of the new school and everything the school will do to assist the future leaders, he added. 

Director of IIT (BHU), Dr. Pramod Kumar Jain and the Board of Governors expressed their heartfelt gratitude and recognized the significance of the INR 5 crore gifted by Naresh Jain for the school of Decision Sciences and Engineering. 

Recently, the I-DAPT-HUB foundation at IIT BHU collaborated with the US National Science Foundation (NSF) for the purpose of joint research in the field of Data Analytics and Predictive Technologies (DAPT).
