IIT BHU, US NSF Collaborate for Joint Research in Data Analytics, Predictive Technologies


New Delhi: The I-DAPT-HUB foundation at the Indian Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University (IIT BHU) has recently announced its collaboration with the US National Science Foundation (NSF) for the purpose of joint research in the field of Data Analytics and Predictive Technologies (DAPT).

Through this collaboration, both IIT BHU and NSF aim at solving several challenges in the societies of both India and the United States of America. This is also to strengthen the relationship based on science and technology between both countries. 

I-DAPT hub foundation will support financially which is anticipated to be up to INR 10 million for research on DAPT and its application in Power/Energy, Telecommunications, Road transport, highways, and Health & Family welfare thrust areas,” IIT BHU said in the statement.

Professor Pramod Kumar Jain, Director at IIT BHU, commented that during the COVID 19 pandemic, Data Analytics and Predictive Computing played a major role in the preparation and development of vaccines. 

Further, he commented that the scientific community these days, is looking towards powerful and high performance computing as well as predictive technologies to gain a more transparent understanding of the major societal challenges and create solutions based on a multi-dimensional approach. 

The I-DAPT-HUB foundation will also fund the DAPT research and its application in the fields of telecommunications, road transport, energy, health and family welfare with up to Rs. 1 crore. 

“Govt. of India under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has also allocated Rs 14,217 Crore for the development of science and technology in the Union Budget 2022-23. Thus, this explains that the creation of an extensive research ecosystem is the need of the hour and this joint collaboration between the world’s two largest democracies will boost the economy, create jobs and bring prosperity,” he further added. 

Professor Rajiv Prakash, the I-DAPT-HUB foundation Director further emphasised that the collaboration between India and US is supposed to play a significant role in the innovation development dimension and it will focus on the talent pool of entrepreneurs and scientists from both countries.

This will also aid in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals set by the Govt. of India by 2030.

Lauding the collaboration, he also stated how this kind of bilateral collaboration nurtures and develops contacts between younger researchers, scientists and technocrats to develop excellence, trust and explore new areas. 

It also encourages public-private partnerships to foster elements of Innovation, Application, and Enterprise", as stated by Professor Vikas Kumar Dubey, Dean (R&D), IIT BHU.
