IISER Kolkata Integrated Ph.D Admission 2022 Open; Last Date to Apply is May 13

New Delhi: IISER Kolkata has begun the application process for the integrated Ph.D programme for the academic year 2022-24. Aspiring candidates can submit the online application form through the official portal at apply.iiserkol.ac.in. 

IISER Kolkata offers an Integrated PhD Program in specializations including Biological Sciences, Earth Sciences and Physical Sciences. The course consists of two years of Masters-level curriculum followed by four years dedicated to PhD research. Candidates seeking admission to the programme can submit their applications till May 13, 2022. 

Candidates seeking IISER Kolkata Admission 2022 into the integrated Ph.D course must note that there is no option to opt out in between from the programme with a Master's degree. The candidate must complete the entire course to receive the respective certifications from the institute.

IISER Kolkata Integrated Ph.D Admission 2022: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria to be eligible for admissions to the PhD course. 

• Candidates must hold a B.Sc/ B.E./ B.Tech./ M.B.B.S. or an equivalent degree from any recognized University/Institute/College are eligible to apply for the Integrated PhD Programme. However, admissions will be subject to completion of all formalities, in 'Selection procedure'. 
• Candidates must have obtained a minimum of 60% marks/equivalent grades in Honours/Major (if applicable), or 60% marks/equivalent grades in Aggregate (if Honours/Major is not applicable). 
• Candidates appearing in the final examination of their degree course can also apply; for them, the eligibility marks are 60% based on the marks obtained in the undergraduate examinations held till the date of submission of the application form. 

Aptitude Test Qualification 

Candidates must have qualified the following aptitude tests in 2022:

For Biological Sciences: 

• JAM Biotechnology/ JGEEBILS

For Earth Sciences:

• (i) JAM Geology
• (ii) JAM Chemistry for Research in Environmental Science, 
• (iii) JAM Physics for Research in Computational Mineralogy

For Physical Sciences:

• JAM Physics/ JEST (Physics) 

IISER Kolkata Integrated PhD Admission 2022: Selection Process

• The institute-level committee(s) will scrutinize all the applications, and prepare a shortlist of candidates, who will be called for an interview.
• Email addresses of two teachers will be sought from shortlisted candidates. These must be teachers who have taught courses and would be able to evaluate the student as a potential research worker. 
• The Institute will finally declare the list of selected candidates on the Institute website.
• For candidates whose final examination marks are not available at the time of interview, admission to the programme will be provisional. 
• Such candidates would have to produce a final marksheet to the Academic Office within 60 days of their admission and have secured a minimum of 60% of marks/ equivalent grades in Honours/ Major (if applicable), or 60% marks/equivalent grades in aggregate (if Honours/Major is not applicable).
