IISER Kolkata & ISRO to Organise National Space Science Exhibition for Science Enthusiasts


New Delhi: IISER Kolkata and ISRO have collaborated to organise a national space science exhibition for students and science enthusiasts. National Space Science Exhibition will students and the general public a chance to engage with space scientists and entrepreneurs from December 6 to December 11, 2022.

The Center of Excellence in Space Sciences India, Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER), Kolkata along with partner organisations from the city, including the Presidency University, University of Calcutta, and St. Xavier's College, are hosting the six-day exhibition.

The event will be held in conjunction with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), the SN Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, Science City, and Birla Industrial and Technological Museum.

The Astronomical Society of India, Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Physical Research Laboratory, IISER Kolkata, Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences, Ashoka University, SatCom Industry Association of India and ISRO centres will all host interactions with space scientists, entrepreneurs in the space industry, and experts in science outreach.

As per IISER Kolkata Professor Dibyendu Nandi, "This exhibition is a collaboration of various city-based organisations and national space science community to showcase Indian space science achievements and ISRO's role in catalysing the growth of space-reliant technologies for the benefit of society."

According to Dr S. Seetha of the Raman Research Institute, who is in charge of the National Space Science Symposium's Outreach Committee, A.S. Kiran Kumar, the chairperson of ISRO's APEX Board, had the idea to organise such a national exhibition specialising in space sciences.

The organising of the show, which will take place in a number of locations throughout the city, is being managed by the outreach committee. Director of IISER, Kolkata, Prof. Prasanta Panigrahi said, "We are thrilled to be hosting this exhibition and invite the city to join us in this celebration of India's space science endeavours.
