New Delhi: IIM Raipur has welcomed its diverse 13th Batch of 331 students in the Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) for the academic session 2022-24, which consisted of 62% of women and 64% of non-engineers.

IIM Raipur conducted an orientation program on July 4 & 5, where CXOs, bureaucrats, and entrepreneurs motivated the students. Apart from welcoming the 13th batch of PGPM students, the 8th Batch of Fellow Programme in Management and 11th Batch of Executive Fellow Programme in Management were also welcomed.
The students of the incoming batch had the chance to interact with academic experts, business executives, government officials, and other notable real-world leaders. Congratulating the students on getting admission into an elite management institute, Smt. Shyamala Gopinathan, BoG, Chairperson, IIM Raipur, delivered the inaugural address.
The new batch of students was greeted by Prof. Ramkumar Kakani, Director of IIM Raipur, Prof. Gopal Kumar, Chairperson of PGP, Prof. Mohit Goswami, Chairperson of Admissions, and Prof. Yogesh Chauhan, Chairperson of the Doctoral Program.
The welcome address was delivered by Prof. Sanjeev Prashar, Professor of Marketing at IIM Raipur, on behalf of Prof. Kamla K. Jain, Dean of Academics. At the event, the dignitaries lit lamps, while the PGP 2nd year students performed the Saraswati Vandana and IIM Raipur theme songs.
Presenting the PGP class batch profile, Prof. Goswami said that the institute continued to push for diversity and inclusivity with 62% of the 331 candidates in the batch being female.
Around 36% of candidates are engineering graduates, 26% are commerce graduates, and the remainder candidates come from various academic fields including management, science, etc.
More than half of the batch has an average of 27 months of work experience. Students from 25 different states are being represented at IIM Raipur, which encourages unity in diversity.

IIM Raipur organised a two-day orientation session, to which experts and leaders from academia, business, and other sectors were invited, to offer the incoming batch a taste of corporate life and to motivate them with real-world experiences.
Some of the distinguished speakers included Vipul Sabharwal, Managing Director, Luminous Power; Nagaraju Sada, Global HR Head - HR Technology and Organization Effectiveness (UPL); Aneesh Ajayan, Manager - Performance Improvement, EY; Dr Lokesh Kumar AIIMS Raipur; Manoj K Prasad, Vice President - Talent Development & Digital Transformation, Reliance Industries; Ms. Shilpa S Santwani, Managing Director, State Street Corporate; Anurag Tripathi, Vice President - Operations, Info Edge India; Rakesh Sinha, National head- Acquisition , Senior Executive Vice President, Kotak Mahindra; Dr. R Balasubramaniam, Member (Human Resources), Capacity Building Commission, Government Of India; Shri Mrityunjoy Sharma, a first generation politician and entrepreneur.
IIM Raipur PGP 2022-24 Batch: Day-1 Orientation
The students of the new batch were welcomed by Dr. R. Balasubramaniam, Member (Human Resources), Capacity Building Commission, GOI. Praising the campus infrastructural facilities at IIM Raipur, he shared with the new business students that the business world is mistakenly thought of as being an evil world.
Since business is a necessary component of life, learning to disrupt, innovate, and lead will help one maintain and ensure that it is fair. He stated that students must be the energy generators in the learning environment for university education to become relevant.
By switching to the "phygital" way of learning, he urged the pupils to co-create the learning process. The brick-and-mortar and digital learning models are combined in phygital mode. The obligation for creating educational resources falls on both teachers and students.
Shri Mrityunjoy Sharma, a first generation politician and entrepreneur conducted a brief session on ‘The Road More Traveled.’ He encouraged the students to move to the grassroot level, find their passion, and follow the same.
IIM Raipur PGP 2022-24 Batch: Day-2 Orientation
The second and last day of the orientation session at IIM Raipur gave the incoming batch of students insight to the business sector. In order to educate the students with the present demands of the corporate world, the day began with a panel discussion on the theme of "India's $5 Trillion Economy: Economic Way Out," conducted by Prof. Sanjeev Prashar, professor - Marketing, IIM Raipur.
The students were fortunate to receive advice from prominent members in the industry, including Mr. Vipul Sabharwal, Managing Director, Luminous Power, Mr. Nagaraju Sada, Global HR Head - HR Technology and Organization Effectiveness (UPL), Mr. Aneesh Ajayan, Manager - Performance Improvement, EY, Dr. Lokesh Kumar from AIIMS Raipur.
Post lunch, a second panel discussion on "Getting Ready for Day Zero" was held. Prof. Jagrook Dawra, Professor of Marketing at IIM Raipur, moderated the panel along with Mr Manoj K Prasad, Vice President - Talent Development & Digital Transformation, Reliance Industries, and Mr. Rakesh Sinha, National head- Acquisition , Senior Executive Vice President, Kotak Mahindra.
Prof. R. K. Jana , Chairperson, Student Affairs, IIM Raipur illuminated the students about ‘Responsible Living at IIM Raipur’. In order to make their MBA journey profitable & enjoyable, he urged the students to accept accountability for their own actions.
Experiential activities were held with the aim of embracing student diversity and the concept of "inclusion." Prof. Damini Saini, Chairperson of SAKSHAM at IIM Raipur, and Ms. Maneesha Sharma, Director of Sankalp Sanskritik Samiti, led the session.
IIM Raipur's Dean of Academics, Prof. Kamal K. Jain, gave the final valedictory note. The new batch are now motivated and prepared to face the difficulties and rigour required by a business school.
