New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated the permanent campus of IIM Nagpur on May 8, 2022. IIM Nagpur is one of the new generation IIMs established by the Government of India which became operational in 2015.
The permanent campus of IIM Nagpur is situated at Dahegaon Mauza, Nagpur. Earlier, in 2018, the Ministry of Education had approved the establishment and operations for Phase 1 process of the campus. The area allotted to Phase 1 is approximately 60,000 square metres. The area includes an academic complex, library, administrative block, hostels for students, sports complex and faculty housing.
While delivering his inauguration speech, President Kovind discussed how IIM Nagpur along with its permanent campus, will be a life-altering experience for its students. To note, until 2021, the institute was operating from its transit campus at the Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) Nagpur.
“We are living in an era where innovation and entrepreneurship are appreciated and encouraged. The stories of various unicorns, or startups which have been slated to be worth over one billion dollars, have scripted new history. It has opened new avenues as new sectors are coming under the loop of business enterprises. Such forays can be a game-changer for our country. I am sure that the ecosystem at IIM Nagpur will provide the students with the mindset of becoming job creators instead of job seekers”, as stated by President Kovind.
As per the official tweet of the institute, the inauguration ceremony began at 10 a.m. IIM Nagpur CP Gurnani, the Chairman, Board of Governors, was also present during the ceremony.

During the inauguration of the new campus at MIHAN, an Army Brass band from the Guards Regimental Centre, Kamptee Cantonment entertained the esteemed guests with their musical harmony.
