IIM Calcutta Ranks First in BT-MDRA India's Best B-schools Survey 2022, with IIM Ahmedabad in 2nd

New Delhi: One of the top business schools of India, Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIMC), has been ranked first in the BT-MDRA India's Best B-schools Survey 2022, while IIM Ahmedabad has grabbed the second place.

This year, the IIMC has maintained its top spot in the BT-MDRA India's Best B-schools Survey with an overall score of 902.8 out of 1,000, and IIM Ahmedabad has maintained its second place with an overall score of 900.2.

The top 11 business schools from the previous year have retained their ranks, while the next 50 have recorded a modest movement. This year, a total of 281 institutes participated in the much anticipated survey.

The top and bottom B-schools had scores that differed by 622.9 points overall. With a score of 279.9, Kolkata-based IMS Business School came in last in the BT-MDRA India's Best B-schools Survey 2022.

In order to determine rankings, five main factors—learning experience, living experience, placement performance, selection process, governance & establishment, and future orientation—are used.

This year, Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA), Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB), Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (IIML), and S.P. Jain Institute of Management & Research, Mumbai (SPJIMR) were ranked second, third, fourth, and fifth among the top institutes by the survey.

Earlier in 2021, IIMC was ranked first in the poll, which witnessed a record-breaking participation of 305 institutes in the three-month exercise. In 2021, IIMC had edged out IIMA by a mere 0.1 points (897.2 to IIMA's 897.1).

Meanwhile, IIMB introduced a new core course this year on digital enterprises, and electives like gamification, Web 3.0, and Metaverse cover some of the newest trends in technology, while IIMA has started to provide courses in both digital marketing and digital strategy and transformation.
