Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta is all set to reopen its campus and recall students who are attending online classes owing to the ongoing pandemic covid-19 situation.
According to IIM-C authorities, the management institute has planned to commence its offline classes from the end of December 2021.
IIM Calcutta has called back around 75% of students to its campus as they were facing internet connectivity issues while attending the online classes. These students are now using the institute's internet connection to attend the online classes.

Since the pandemic situation across the country is slowing down, the institute’s academic council has decided to commence the physical classes. However, the remaining students have been given different windows to return.
The institute has assigned the chairpersons of different courses to call back students to its campus as per their flexible schedule of the offline classes, said Manish Thakur, Dean, (New Initiatives and External Relations).
Classes to be Conducted in Blended Mode
The management school has planned to conduct classes in a blended model, through which the students will be able to attend the lectures in person in the classroom or attend online classes from the institute's WiFi-enabled hostels.
IIM-C has opted for a blended mode of teaching in order to maintain the physical distance as it could be a problem in classes consisting of large batches. Following this, the students of IIM-C will be able to study following social distancing norms through the blended model of teaching.
According to the reports, IIM Calcutta has organised an exercise in early November to assess if the B-school is ready to call back its students and start offline classes on the campus. Recently, the schools and colleges in West Bengal were permitted to reopen from November 16.
