IIM Bangalore Students Organise "Drishti 2022" Business Summit


New Delhi: The "Drishti 2022" business summit was organized from November 5 to November 6, 2022, by the students of the Post Graduate Program in Enterprise Management (PGPEM) at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore.

The first day of the two-day summit of IIM Bangalore concluded eay with a workshop entitled "Birding Buddies". Following that, Jude S, Senior Territory Manager Sales, Adrenalin eSystems Limited, and Ambal Saravanan, HR Strategic Consultant, Intellect Design Arena Limited, led a workshop on "Sustaining Talent for the Future."

In addition, five competitions—Finmoz, Markwiz, Revive, Sustainability Ninja, and Bizwiz—had their final rounds at the event. These events' preliminary rounds, which took place over the previous two months, attracted up to 1000 participants. The finalists were chosen for a live presentation on campus. 

In the presence of the PGPEM Chairperson Professor Allen P Ugargol and IIM Bangalore Director Professor Rishikesha T Krishnan, well-known environmentalist and Padma Awardee Thulasi Gowda gave the keynote address. 

Renowned for her encyclopedic knowledge of trees and plants and hailed by forest-dwelling communities and environmentalists, Thulasi Gowda, remarked saying that she spent her youth growing trees and grew up in a nursery. There are a thousands of trees that she has planted, and has encouraged everyone to do the same, not only on campus but in the society as well. 

Congratulating the PGPEM team on all counts, Professor Rishikesha T Krishnan remarked in his speech that the topic of sustainability needs to be at the top of business agendas. Initiatives like these are supported even though there is still more work to be done in this area. 

He said that he's convinced that as laws, reporting standards, and regulations change, sustainability will continue to change over the coming years.

He praised the theme and the PGPEM batch for taking this action. Further, he added that a lot of socially conscious investors are looking at how they can enhance ESG compliance within organisations, making the theme for today highly relevant. 

The first keynote was delivered by Seema Arora, Deputy Director General, Confederation of Indian Industry, who has done remarkable work on Sustainable Development within CII. In her keynote, she spoke about her work on designing innovative products and frameworks to build the business case for the industry to invest in sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

She discussed her work developing inventive products and frameworks to support the business case for the industry to invest in sustainability and CSR in her keynote address.

This was followed by an address by Srinivasa Bharathy, the managing director and CEO of Adrenalin eSystems. He discussed "HR Sustainability."

The day's events came to an end with a panel discussion on "Different Dimensions of Sustainability" with executives from sectors like logistics, consumer goods, and mobility. 

The panellists were Thameem Kamaldeen, Managing Director of Signalling at Alstom, Professor Monto Mani from IISc, Ravi Arora, VP of Tata Sons, Kristy Drutman, Co-Founder of Green Job Board, and Rajesh Mehta, Senior Consultant, TNO. 

The panellists also spoke about various aspects of sustainability and how their organisations are attempting to lower the cost of green products.
