IIM Ahmedabad, Snapdeal Ink MoU to Collaborate on Retail Tech Research; Details Here


Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad has signed a memorandum of understanding with Snapdeal to do research related to Retail Technology. 

The academia-industry collaboration is led by the Centre for Digital Transformation (CDT) of IIM Ahmedabad. As a part of the MoU, Snapdeal will join CDT for the research on Retail Tech Consortium. 

The consortium will include the nationwide retail surveys, development of case studies, retail tech webinars, research studies, conference, the conduct of field experiments, etc. 

The nationwide survey about the effect of online shopping on consumers will be one of the initiatives undertaken by the consortium.

The research will cover more than 30,000 consumers across the country and will assist the ecosystem participants, academia and policymakers to arrive at an updated understanding. 

The aim of IIM-Ahmedabad’s Centre for Digital Transformation (CDT) is to produce interdisciplinary research on the emerging technologies and their impact on innovation and business management for the upcoming future.

An Advisory Council on Responsible Digital Transformation has been set up by the CDT to help develop practices and guidelines specifically curated to benefit all stakeholders and achieve higher objectives. 

Speaking about the collaboration, Professor Pankaj Setia, the IIMA Chair Professor and Founding Chairperson of the CDT said that India is witnessing fast digitization of retail that might pose many challenges and opportunities, both for online and traditional retailers. 

He said that the retail processes are being blended with the digital technologies, opening new avenues for different types of retailers. 

With the help of the Retail Tech consortium, the CDT at IIM-A has planned to look deeper at this changing landscape and provide solutions to refine the overall well-being of the community. Furthermore, the CDT is eagerly waiting to collaborate with Snapdeal to enable the future endeavors, Setia said.
