IIIT Nagpur Launches 4 New Courses; Adds 240 Seats to BTech Program


New Delhi: Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Nagpur has increased the admission seats for BTech program by 240 for 2022-2023 academic year. In addition, the institute has launched four new engineering courses in various areas of specialisations.

As per IIIT Nagpur, the newly launched BTech program will be offered in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Human-Computer Interaction and Gaming Technology, Data Science and Analytics, and Internet of Things specialisations to students. 

The branches of AI and ML, Human-Computer Interaction and Gaming Technology, Data Science and Analytics will begin under the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. While the IoT will begin under the Department of Electronics and Communication.

Dean-in-charge Ashwin Kothari stated, "Until 2021, we had 373 BTech first-year seats; as of the present academic year, that number has climbed to 637." A total of 214 places were available in the Computer Science and Engineering department of IIIT Nagpur in previous year.

Currently, the admission seats for the program stand at 421. In addition, the Electronics and Communication department had a total of 133 positions in 2021, which has now increased to 216 for the current academic year. 

In other news, IIIT Nagpur began operations at the BSNL Regional Telecom Training Centre in Seminary Hills. In April 2021, the institution moved to its permanent campus. In two years, the institute intends to establish its own IT park from which tech firms can function.

Talking about the achievements of IIIT Nagpur, Dean Ashwin Kothari said, “We are getting premier companies for our placements, and they are offering decent salary packages to students”.

“Our students are getting internship offers from reputed organisations as well. Our faculty recruitment drive is in full swing" he further added.
