IIIT-Delhi to Conduct its 9th Convocation in Virtual Mode on Sept 26; Read to Know the Schedule


On September 26, 2020, Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology(IIIT), Delhi will hold its 9th convocation ceremony, conferring degrees to all graduate and graduate students. Read the article to know the schedule of the ceremony.

To ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic, IIIT-Delhi has announced on the virtual platform that it will hold its 9th convocation ceremony.

This ceremony would mark the celebrations of the graduating students ' achievements, academic excellence and technical virtuosity.

This year 237 B.Tech., 203 M.Tech., and 2 M.Tech will be conferred to the institute. Students with dual degrees.

In addition to these, the doctoral research candidates would also be awarded 12 PhD degrees.

Professor Joachim Frank, recipient of the 2017 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, would grace the convocation ceremony as the chief guest to inspire and motivate the graduating students.

Over the years IIIT-Delhi has established its position as a research-driven institution.

The faculty members and students have published 370 research papers in the previous academic year, which includes 138 journal articles, 153 lecture papers, 65 workshop papers.

The institute also managed to get 35 research projects sanctioned with a sponsorship of more than 17 crores.

IIIT-Delhi students and faculty took an active part in the battle against the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Institute has been quite successful in raising awareness among the general public about Covid-19 by developing the WashKaro app through bite-sized Hindi audios.

For the past couple of years, the placement records of the Institute have been on an upward trend with most programmes recording 96 per cent to 100 per cent placement.

A total of 707 offers were made at the institute this year, out of which 414 were for full-time employment and 293 were internship offers. The number of A+ offers has also gone up significantly.

The Graduating Batch of 2020 has been through many distinctive circumstances because of the Coronavirus pandemic.

It was certainly an unforeseen challenge to finish the final semester online but the students have shown exceptional grit and determination in making the best of a very difficult situation.

The Convocation Ceremony will be broadcast live on the YouTube channel of the Institute and its link will also be shared on the other official social media handles of the Institute.
