IIIT Delhi Sets up Centre of Excellence in Human-Centered Computing


New Delhi: IIITD has recently established its own Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Human-Centered Computing on the campus ground. With the establishment of CoE at IIIT Delhi, the institute aims to offer trending courses in the field of Human-Centered Computing to interested students. The center will also work on various research collaborations, capacity building, and the exchange of faculty between the EU and India.

Referring to the newly established CoE,  IIIT Delhi officials said, "IIIT-Delhi is at the forefront of Human-centered Computing research, and with the CoE in place, the research will get a further push".

The IIIT Delhi Faculty Members who will join the Centre of Excellence (CoE) are very well experienced in their respected field and have done notable work in public health, education, and women's safety domain, the officials added. 

As per IIIT Delhi, the center has been established under its EU Erasmus+ Design and Innovation Capacity Building (DESINNO) project. The project brings together some of the top universities from around the globe and conducts various research-related activities. 

Universities that have joined IIIT Delhi’s “DESINNO” project include the World University Of Design (WUD), and the Regional Institute of Management and Technology (RIMT) among others from India. 

Additionally, several top universities from abroad, such as the University of Aegean from Greece, Brunel University from the UK, Politecnico di Milano from Italy, and CREATHIDEV from Europe have also joined the project. 

While congratulating the IIIT Delhi initiative, Prof. Philip Azariadis, University of the Aegean said, "I welcome the establishment of the CoE in Human-Centred Computing in IIIT-D university as part of the international DESINNO project".

"The new CoE will provide a solid ground for the institute to support the academic and the design community, to improve the collaboration with the Industrial Sector, and to reinforce the internationalization perspectives and modernization of the offered curricula” he added.

The Center of Excellence will work on developing design and technology which will help enhance human capacities in various domains. The platform will also work on supporting researchers and entrepreneurs by bringing them together and providing them guidance.

The center is very well facilitated with the latest technologies and equipment which will be used in various research projects. Following its launch, the institute will now invite top researchers on the campus for collaborative research activities in the field of “Human-Centered Computing”.
