The chief guest of the virtual convocation was Professor Gagandeep Kang, Laboratory Director at The Wellcome Trust Research Laboratory, Division of Gastrointestinal Sciences, Christian Medical College, Vellore, said that it's a matter of great pride and privilege to be graduating from IIIT Delhi.

He praised the institute for its cutting edge research as part of its institutional DNA and elucidated the institute's mission, which focuses on excellence in information technology, both in terms of education and research and the students to be innovators who are socially relevant.

Further, the professor shared some encouraging words with the students by conveying three messages. The first, to build their scientific temper as there will be a way if they follow the science, such as the uncertainties of science and discovery.

The second message is to think about embracing the struggle. He said that their skills and abilities are the foundation to build their careers and change the world.

Speaking about the third message, he said it is to empathise and if everyone understands what it is to walk a mile in other people’s shoes, they will understand what it is that they need to do to help themselves and the society.
