Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Delhi has collaborated with a public Japanese multinational retail holding company, Fast Retailing to sponsor education for five underprivileged students.
In order to create the Fast Retailing Educational Sponsorship Program especially for five students with high potential belonging to economically weaker sections of the society, the IIIT Delhi and Fast Retailing have collaborated.
The company has already informed the selection of a group of students for its premiere sponsorship program that will assist them become future leaders.
Further, the company has announced to open the applications for the next batch as soon as possible after receiving good response from the students and their parents.
Official Details on IIIT Delhi and Fast Retailing Collaboration
Fast Retailing will fund the educational sponsorship program that will cover the full tuition fee and other fee structure of five freshman students a year, covering a full four-year period for bachelor’s degree students and a two-year period for master’s degree students.
A group of five qualified students are already pursuing undergraduate degrees under the educational sponsorship programme.
Besides the financial sponsorship program, these qualified students are eligible to participate in Japanese language and culture studies and grab internship offers from UNIQLO India.
Meanwhile, the candidates who fulfill the requisite eligibility criteria will also be able to join Fast Retailing in Japan or UNIQLO in India to help leverage the skills they develop while pursuing their degrees.
IIIT Delhi's Educational Sponsorship Programme: Eligibility Criteria
Interested candidates can go through the following eligibility criteria before registering for the scholarship.
- Candidates must have enrolled in a full-time bachelors/ masters computer educational program at IIIT Delhi or they're studying in first year.
- Candidates must have passed class 12th grade (75%+) (for bachelors and masters candidates).
- Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree (7.5+ CGPA) (for masters candidates only).
- Projects/researches executed.
- Candidates must have participated in hackathons and extra-curricular activities.
- Economically weak (To be recommended by IIITD).
- Enabling female empowerment.
Candidates registering for the IIIT Delhi’s educational sponsorship program should have not enrolled in any other scholarship or support program.
Expressing his happiness about the collaboration, Professor Ranjan Bose, Director, IIIT-Delhi, said that the partnership between IIIT-D and Fast Retailing will grow at a healthy pace and the institute is proud to develop strong linkages with the industry.
Further, the collaboration will provide impetus to IIIT Delhi’s vision of being socially relevant, industry-facing, and globally connected, Bose added.
