IIIT Delhi Collaborates with Delhi Government to Set Up Centre for Sustainable Mobility


New Delhi: Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Delhi will launch a center for sustainable mobility in a collaboration with APP government in Delhi to find solutions to the problem of urban mobility in the state. 

As per the officials, this collaboration of IIIT Delhi and AAP government will aim to offer more smart and reliable transport options to the people in Delhi. Both parties will jointly work towards offering reliable solutions to problems related to transportation in Delhi. 

Informing about this initiative, Transport Commissioner, Delhi, Ashish Kundra officially tweeted, "Memorandum of understanding signed today with @IIITDelhi to establish a centre for sustainable mobility in partnership with @TransportDelhi @pravesh @kgahlot. Urban mobility problems to be addressed in partnership with academia".

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed in the presence of Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi (IIIT Delhi) officials, faculty members, Delhi Transport Commissioner, Ashish Kundra, and other officials of AP government on July 12, 2022.

Talking about the past achievements of the Delhi Government, the Transport Minister added that APP Government's initiatives like open transit data, integrating bus data with Google maps and the One Delhi app was also developed with the help of the talented team of IIIT Delhi. 

Delhi Government has joined hands with IIIT Delhi in the past as well to provide reliable services to people. With this collaboration, the government is aiming to achieve more milestones in smart and reliable transport, he further added.

Earlier, the Delhi government also joined hands with UNICEF to provide job opportunities to students of Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU). This step is taken to improve the overall employability and offer students an opportunity to become job ready in various fields. 

Under this collaboration, the Delhi government, and Flywheel Digital Solutions Pvt will conduct a six-month pilot project called "YuWaah Step Up - Bano job ready" at the Ambedkar DSEU Shakarpur - I campus. The pilot project is scheduled to start on July 20, 2022. 

Informing about this collaboration, the officials said, "Skill Varsity of Delhi joins hands with YuWaah at UNICEF to enable access to employment opportunities, assist students in becoming job-ready as well as listen to and amplify the voices of young people".

Adding to the statement, Arvind Bali, CEO, TSSC said, "This partnership has a lot of potential to create a stir in the skill ecosystem and potentially lead to a long duration degree (3 years) course on telecom which will be wholeheartedly welcomed by the industry”.
