IIIT Allahabad to Revamp MTech Courses as Per NEP 2020; Check Details


New Delhi: Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad (IIIT-A) has planned to revamp its M.Tech courses in accordance with the National Education Policy, NEP 2020. 

IIIT-Allahabad has begun a major exercise in order to regulate all the M.Tech courses with the provisions of the new National Education Policy, NEP 2020. 

A 11-member high-level sub-committee of experts from the top technical institutions of India and from the corporate world has been constituted by the institute to restructure the M.Tech courses

The technology institute has selected the sub-committee of experts from prominent educational institutions and topnotch organizations. 

Experts formed for the sub-committee who will revamp the courses include Professor AG Ramakrishnan from IISc, Bengaluru, Professor Ganesh Ramakrishnan from IIT, Mumbai, senior vice president of Reliance Industries, Mumbai, Shantanu Gupta and senior experts from IIIT-A, such as prof US Tiwari, Professor Shekhar Verma, Professor Nitesh Purohit, Professor Manish Goswami, Professor Pawan Chakraborty, Professor Pritish Bhardwaj, joint registrar Ashish Kumar and registrar Professor Vijayshri Tewari.

Speaking about the starting of the significant exercise, IIIT-A registrar professor Vijayashri Tiwari said that the suggestions of the committee were set to be placed before the senate, which is the institute’s top decision-making body for all academic affairs, soon. 

After receiving the nod from the senate, the exercise will be sent to the Board of Governors for final go ahead, she added. 

According to the IIIT-A officials, the institute has planned to implement the changes in the PG courses from the July 2022 session. 

Professor Shekhar Verma, IIIT-A’s dean (A&R) presented the idea in the senate meeting held last month. Most of the senate members including external members had also contributed with their recommendations and opinions. 

The constitution of a senate sub-committee was recommended by the Chairman senate and IIIT-A director Prof P Nagabhushan. 

Before revamping the MTech courses, the sub-committee would look into different characteristics including all interdisciplinary MTech programmes and MTech proposals, from all the departments and come out with an exhaustive workable report. 

The workable report will consist of all the features including admission process, types of MTech, group-wise admissions, administrative and legal aspects and other related issues.
