New Delhi: IGNOU has launched three new courses in the field of agriculture for the academic year 2022-23, in addition to the list of courses, that were introduced in the month of January 2022.
The School of Agriculture, IGNOU has launched a Master’s degree programme, a PG diploma level, and a diploma, namely, M.Sc in Food Safety and Quality Management, Post Graduate Diploma in Agribusiness (PGDAB), and Diploma in Horticulture (DHORT).
IGNOU's MSc FSQM Programme 2022: Course Details
The master's degree programme in Food Safety and Quality Management (MSc FSQM) will be offered for at least an year or the students can also pursue MSc FSQM for a duration of 3 years.
The university has launched the MSc FSQM course with an aim to develop skikled and competent human resources in the field of food safety and quality management for regulators, certifying and accreditation bodies, industry, academic/research institutions, food trade, food testing and training.
IGNOU along with APEDA is offering the master's degree programme in Food Safety and Quality Management, which is the first such initiative in India, with an emphasis on practical proficiency development exercises.
The MSc FSQM programme is likely to meet the increasing human resource requirements for food safety and quality management professionals in the agriculture and food sectors.
IGNOU's MSc FSQM 2022: Eligibility Criteria
Candidates in order to apply for IGNOU admissions in the MSc FSQM programme should meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Candidates must have pursued a undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Science with Chemistry/ Biochemistry or Microbiology as one of the subjects
- Candidates should hold a UG or PG degree in allied sciences such as Agriculture/ Food Science/ Food Technology/ Post Harvest Technology/ Engineering/ Home Science/ Life Science/ Microbiology/ Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/ Horticulture/ Dairy Technology/ Veterinary/ Fisheries/ Hotel Management and Catering/ Hospitality Management etc.
- Candidates must hold a graduate degree With pg diploma in food safety and quality management (lateral entry for 2nd year of M.Sc).
Candidates applying for the MSc FSQM programme 2022 should note that the course fee for a duration of an year is INR 14,400.
IGNOU's PGDAB Programme 2022
In order to apply for IGNOU's PGDAB programme, candidates should hold a graduate degree in any discipline from a recognised university.
The PGDAB programme mainly targets the following groups:
- Graduates interested in pursuing a career in the agriculture business
- Technician and managers in agro-industries and enterprises dealing with agriculture inputs and outputs
- Self-entrepreneurs in agriculture
- Market researchers and managers
- Contract farmers
- Traders and intermediaries dealing with agricultural produce and products
- Personnel of government and non-government organizations have a stake in the agriculture sector.
IGNOU's Diploma in Horticulture (DHORT) 2022
IGNOU has launched the diploma in Horticulture programme by receiving financial support from the Ministry of Agriculture Farmers Welfare, Government of India. The DHORT course will be for a duration of one-year. However, candidates will be given a total of three years to complete the diploma course.
Candidates who have completed their Class 12, under any recognised board, are eligible to apply for the DHORT programme.
The objective of the DHORT programme is to educate the secondary pass students about horticulture, and enable them to become entrepreneurs.
The programme will develop a candidate to build and train human resources such as supervisors, gardeners, entrepreneurs and middle technicians in the field of horticulture.
