New Delhi: IGNOU inaugurated an online MA in Journalism and Mass Communication (MAJMC) programme on Friday 14th January. According to an IGNOU news release, the programme will be open to worldwide students and will begin in the January 2022 admission cycle.
According to a statement released by the university, Prof. Nageshwar Rao, Vice-Chancellor, IGNOU, started the online MAJMC programme admission at IGNOU. The VC stated in his inauguration address that the MAJMC online programme is futuristic and covers all aspects of Journalism and Mass Communication.
He also further aded that the University will launch MAJMC in regional languages such as Hindi and other languages, in addition to English.
IGNOU's School of Journalism and New Media Studies is offering a two-year MA degree programme.
The Master's Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication is designed to develop talented media and communication professionals who have a holistic understanding of media as an instrument for change and development.

The programme will help a student in developing competencies and professional abilities in order to pursue employment possibilities in a variety of media areas. It will provide possibilities for those working in media companies who do not have the necessary formal training to improve their knowledge and skills.
Prof. Uma Kanjilal, IGNOU's Pro-Vice-Chancellor, emphasized MAJMC's distinctive features, which include a variety of media courses that might be valuable to a wide range of students.
