IGNOU has virtually launched a certificate programme in Food and Nutrition under its School of Continuing Education.

Being a post-literacy level awareness programme, the certificate programme in Foods and Nutrition has been specially designed for individuals with basic reading and writing skills.

The programme aims to familiarize the learners with the role of food in ensuring healthy living for the individual, family and community.
The programme in Food and Nutrition includes features such as food selection and preparation, nutrition from infancy to old age, economics of food, kitchen gardening, food adulteration, consumer rights, safety and education, and more.
The Chief guest of the virtual occasion was the globally-recognised medical scientist and public health exponent, and member of NITI Aayog, Dr. Vinod K. Paul. He addressed the students by saying that the programme can be accessible to a large learner-base.
Speaking about the importance of Food and Nutrition, Paul urged the IGNOU to include it in other programmes in-tune with the multidisciplinary approach of the National Education Policy, NEP 2020.
IGNOU Certificate Programme in Food & Nutrition 2022: Eligibility Criteria
In order to take admission into the certificate programme in Food and Nutrition, candidates should have attained 18 years of age as on the last date for the receipt of admission form.
No formal education is required to register for this programme. The certificate course fee is INR 1,900, with a registration fee of INR 200.
The certificate programme in Food and Nutrition will be taught online in Hindi and English and will be completed within a duration of six months.

Interested candidates can follow the steps below to apply for the certificate programme.
Step 1: Visit the official IGNOU SAMARTH website @ignouiop.samarth.edu.in
Step 2: If you are an existing user, login through required credentials. If you're a new user, you should first register.
Step 3: Fill in all the required details with no spelling or factual error.
Step 4: Upload the necessary documents and pay the application and registration fee through credit card (master/visa), debit card (master/visa/Rupay) or net banking.
Step 5: Now, review the application, and hit the submit button and save the page for future reference.
Candidates must note that the university will accept applications for the certificate programme till February 21, 2022 (without late fee).
