Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has successfully launched online Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) and Master of Computer Application (MCA) programs.
The primary objective of IGNOU for offering these programs is to provide an admission channel for the students who have passed their 10+2 examinations and are looking forward to a career in IT.
Professor Nageshwar Rao, the Vice-Chancellor of IGNOU, launched the programmes along with the other guests of honour, Professor PVGD Prasad Reddy, the VC of Andhra University and Professor G Kannabiram, the Director of NIT Trichy.

IGNOU BCA, MCA Online Courses Offered as per NEP 2020
The School of Computer and Information Sciences, IGNOU is offering these courses as per the guidelines of New Education Policy (NEP 2020).
IGNOU MCA Programme Coordinator Dr. Akshay Kumar and BCA Programme Coordinator Dr. MP Mishra shared the details of the newly launched programme while discussing the scope and career aspects brought by the courses.

According to them, “The broad objective of the MCA programme is to prepare graduate students for productive careers in the software industry and academia by providing an outstanding environment for teaching and research in the core and emerging areas of the discipline.
The programme’s thrust is on giving the students a thorough and sound background in theoretical and application-oriented courses relevant to the latest computer software development. The programme emphasizes the application of software technology to solve mathematical, computing, communications/networking and commercial problems.”
The Master’s Degree Programme will be divided into semesters. The first year will focus on developing theoretical knowledge along with practical skills in core computer science. The second year will offer a conceptual framework and the project outline.
IGNOU Online BCA, MCA Course: How to Apply?
The last date of the application is January 31, 2022. Here are the detailed steps of how to apply to these courses:
- Visit the official website i.e. iop.ignouonline.ac.in
- Fill the necessary details and register as a new candidate
- Take note of your unique “Registration ID” and “Password”
- Log in using those credentials
- Pay the prescribed fees through credit/debit card or netbanking
- Upload the required documents
- Check the “preview” option of the form and download it
- Take a print out of the form.
Meanwhile, IGNOU Admission 2022 is ongoing for January Session for various undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered by it. The last date to register is slated to be January 31, 2022.
