New Delhi: IGNOU has announced that there will be no OPENMAT entrance exam for admission to AICTE approved MBA programmes in two sessions throughout the year.
Candidates intending to pursue an MBA programme from IGNOU can either apply under the July session or under the January session. As of now, the university has started the MBA admission registrations for January 2022 session, registrations are till January 31, 2022.
Earlier, candidates seeking MBA admission at IGNOU, had to appear for an entrance exam, namely IGNOU OPENMAT. However, the varsity decided to not conduct the OPENMAT from the July 2021 session.
The admission in MBA courses offered by the varsity is now based on the candidate’s eligibility fulfilment.
IGNOU MBA Admission 2022 (January Cycle): Eligibility Criteria
Candidates from the unreserved category must have secured 50% marks in their bachelor's degree to be eligible for IGNOU 2022 MBA Admission.
Candidates from the reserved category have a relaxation of 5%, so, these candidates must have obtained 45% in their bachelor's degree to be eligible for MBA Admission at IGNOU.

IGNOU MBA Admission 2022: Registration Process
Candidates can complete the IGNOU MBA registration 2022 by following the steps mentioned below.
Step 1: Visit the official website of IGNOU, @ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in.
Step 2: Complete the one-time registration and generate login credentials and enter the personal details.
Step 3: Choose programme details and fill in the academic information.
Step 4: Enter correspondence information and upload the necessary documents
Step 5: Preview the filled-in form one last time and deposit the requisite application fee.
Step 6: Take a printout of the application form for further reference.
Future of IGNOU OPENMAT for MBA Admission
IGNOU is yet to announce any details regarding the continuation of the OPENMAT in the subsequent admission sessions (July 2022 session)
However, it can be predicted that OPENMAT may be conducted in further admission sessions.
While the delays in the admission cycle is due to the spread of COVID-19, which is being blamed for the decision of not conducting OPENMAT for IGNOU MBA admission.
MBA aspirants should note that doubts regarding the future of IGNOU OPENMAT will be solved only when the university releases the admission brochure for the July 2022 and January 2023 sessions.
The school of Management studies offers the IGNOU MBA programme, which is approved by AICTE and the medium of instruction is English.
The varsity launched MBA (Banking and Finance) as a result of an MoU between IGNOU and IIBF in order to provide an avenue for postgraduate academic qualification for the members of the IIBF.
