HPTU Lahaul Spiti Campus to Start Inducting Students in B.Tech and MBA Courses


HPTU has announced two new courses to be offered at its Kukumseri campus in Lahaul-Spiti. The 21 to 21 HPTU plan has also been announced, unveiling the university's plans to upgrade its faculty and upgrade its infrastructure facilities.

Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU), Hamirpur announced that it will begin offering two new courses this season. The new courses announced by HPTU include a BTech in Computer Science and an MBA in Tourism and Hospitality Management. Both of these courses will be available from the Kukumseri campus in the Lahaul and Spiti districts of Himachal Pradesh.

TThese courses have been announced in a bid to link courses with jobs as per the current trends as per the information shared by Ram Lal Markanda, HP's Minister of Technical Education. He also added that the university will increase its annual admission to higher demand courses and reduce the number of seats that receive fewer applications.

BTech and MBA Admissions at HPTU

HPTU usually conducts the HP Common Entry Test (HPCET) for admission to its BTech and MBA courses. However, the HPCET 2020 was cancelled due to the threat posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

As per the revised HPTU BTech 2020 Admission Process, half of the seats in BTech courses will be filled using JEE Main scores, while the remainder will be filled on the basis of the candidate's Class 12 scores.

MBA admission to HPTU will also be performed using alternate exam scores such as CAT / MAT / CMAT, etc.

21 by 21 HPTU Plan Announced

Mr Markanda also announced 21 things to be done on the 2021 HPTU plan, more popularly known as the 21 by 21 plan. The university plans to take several steps to improve the quality of faculty members. A significant investment is planned in the HPTU infrastructure and will be used to create new hostels, skills development centres, gyms, recreation centres, etc.
