Haryana has decided to re-open its medical colleges from December 7. This comes after institutes in the state were shut for more than 6 months because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Directorate of Medical Education and Research had also released a notification regarding this. The plan to reopen colleges in the state was submitted by the Vice-Chancellor of Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences to conduct the practical examinations.

Negative Covid Reports Must
As per the notification released by the Directorate of Medical Education and Research, students will have to show a COVID-19 negative report before attending the college. This report must not be more than 3 days old when they report to the colleges.
Concerned colleges have also been directed to help students in getting the medical test done properly. The colleges will be assisted by the Chief Medical Officers of the districts in this endeavour.
Chief Minister of Haryana, Manohar Lal Khattar, has also confirmed the re-opening of medical colleges through Twitter. The state had previously imposed a strict lockdown due to Covid-19 in mid-March.
While the classes were shifted to the online mode of education, practical examinations could not be conducted by the institutes. This was a serious problem as practical learning is of paramount importance in the medical field.
Colleges to Maintain Health Protocols
Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences Rohtak, administered a meeting among the directors of all medical institutes to address the issue of health. During the meeting, it was agreed that the colleges will create a schedule for classes while maintaining the safety protocols.
While most of the institutes have been shut across the country, some of the states are slowly re-opening educational institutes following Unlock Phase 4. However, the response over the re-opening is mixed.
Some states like Meghalaya had also re-opened the school for certain grades. However, they were forced to cancel physical classes due to the rising number of cases among the students.
