Haryana School Syllabus 2022 to Include Gita Shlokas: Read Full Report Here


December 15, 2021: As per the announcement made by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, the Haryana School Syllabus 2022 will now include shlokas from the Hindu religious book, Bhagavad Gita from the academic session 2022-23. 

Following the announcement made, Haryana Government affiliated schools are now directed to include Bhagavad Gita verses and its familiarities in the course curriculum of 5th to 7th class students. 

Referring to the initiative, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar stated that books and verses related to Gita will be included in the textbooks. The announcement was made during the ongoing 'International Gita Mahotsav' in Kurukshetra. 

The Chief Minister further added that the decision to include the Bhagavad Gita teachings in the school curriculum has been made to introduce students to the Gita teachings and verses. 

While urging the students to imbibe the Gita instructions, he further added that there are no books that include the teachings of Bhagavad Gita and introduce students to its route life. 

With this initiative, the government aims to offer books and different views to students in regards to life. The textbook material and other required changes in the course curriculum for the same will now be introduced, he added. 

The decision has been made by keeping in mind the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP)’s request to declare the ‘Bhagavad Gita’ as the national book of India. In addition to this, VHP further requested the government to make Gita slokas and teachings an obligatory teaching material. 

Earlier, the Haryana Government had directed all schools of district Gurgaon, Faridabad, Sonepat, and Jhajjar to pause the physical class commencement till further notice. The decision was made due to the increase in pollution in Delhi, Haryana, and neighboring states. 

Soon after the decision, Deputy Commissioner of Gurugram, Dr. Yash Garg released an official notice stating that schools and educational institutes in the state can open from November 26, 2021. The schools are now permitted to resume the classes with strict COVID-19 protocols in place.
