New Delhi: DU has decided to conduct exams for the students who had discontinued their courses in between, i.e, this year, the varsity has planned to give another chance to their ex-students to complete their degree this year.
An executive council meeting was conducted on January 28, that illustrated the proposal, which has since been cleared, along with the discussions for the centenary celebrations of DU.
However, it should be noted that the option to complete the degree courses by attending the exams will not be provided to all the former students of the varsity.
The varsity is all set to conduct the centenary celebrations from May 1, 2022, which will include a year-long event planned by the university.
A total fund of INR 10 crore has been allocated by the varsity for its centenary celebrations which are scheduled to commence from May 01, 2022, on the campus ground. The year-long celebration event will be concluded on May 01, 2023.
Therefore, the decision of holding exams for those who couldn't appear for two or three papers was taken as a part of the DU's centenary year celebration.
Further, students should note that the option of sitting for the exams will not be made available to those students who had dropped out in the first or second year of their courses.
According to the reports, DU Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh, said that the executive council has approved the proposal and the varsity has named it as a ‘centenary’ chance. Therefore, students who were not able to complete their degree for any reason can sit for the papers and earn their degree from the university.
As part of the centenary celebration, the ex-students eligible for this option will be given two chances, the first being in the month of September and October, 2022, and the second, around March 2023.
Moreover, Prof Singh said that there will be a separate registration for the students to sit for their exams if they were unable to take two-three papers during their course duration.
The decision of making students sit for the exams was approved in January 2021 in a special Executive Council meeting, which was specifically conducted to discuss the centenary celebrations of the university.
Earlier this week, the varsity constituted a four-member panel to examine the processes related to the DU admission for the academic session 2022-23, as the university is all set to implement the CUCET from the current academic year 2022-23.
In addition, the varsity formed a 7-member panel to look into the admission processes and formalities regarding the overseas students.
