New Delhi: Delhi University has debunked a fake notice that has become viral on social media. The fake notice claims that DU will resume its offline classes for all the undergraduate and postgraduate courses from January 10, 2022.
This is the third time in a row in the last year, when Delhi University had to dismiss the fake notice regarding the reopening of the varsity. Earlier, in September 20221, the varsity debunked a similar fake notice.
According to the fake notice, students residing outside Delhi will be given an adequate time frame of minimum 10 days to ensure a smooth process of relocation and that the physical classes will be conducted with strict enforcement of government guidelines.
This is fake news.

The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) said that recently the Delhi government declared fresh curbs as a part of the “yellow alert” to contain the spread of new covid-19 variant, Omicron in the capital.
As per the new instructions, educational institutions like schools and colleges will remain closed until further notice of the government.
The Development Fund Committee of Delhi University has recently increased the annual university development fees by 50% from the academic year 2021-22. The University’s executive council made the final decision in view of the reduction in capital grants by the Union Grants Commission, UGC.
Recently, Delhi University has also approved the Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) for UG Admissions, starting from the academic year 2022-23. From the upcoming academic year, DU Admission for UG Courses will be granted on the basis of scores in the CUCET entrance examination.
Meanwhile, DU students have been curiously waiting for the university to resume its offline classes, however, considering the fast spread of the new variant, Delhi University has kept its campus closed. Earlier, the varsity had restarted its campus for offline classes in a phased manner from September 15, 2021.
Post the approval from DDMA in August 2021, the varsity planned to transit into the blended online-offline mode of teaching and learning in a phased manner to reopen educational institutions.
Even the final year undergraduate and postgraduate students were permitted to attend practical and library classes from September 15, 2021. However, with the current fear of Omicron, it is unlikely that the DU campus will be reopened anytime soon.
