New Delhi: Delhi University admissions will now be held by the Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET). Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh declared that Delhi University is ready to implement this new admissions procedure and that DUCET/CUCET 2022 will be held this year.
The National Testing Agency, NTA, and the Ministry of Education operate CUCET. Prior to the introduction of CUCET, Delhi University held admissions by generating merit lists based on class 12 board exam results.
The Vice-Chancellor of Delhi University informed TOI of this decision. As a result of such a substantial declaration and transition, aspiring students will be studying for an additional entrance exam after examinations beginning this year.
Before the announcement, speculations arose that DU would have its own entrance test, which would be distinct from CUCET. According to previous reports, the University even had many rounds of talks with key officials in order to pass the notion of conducting an entrance exam for admissions.
VC Yogesh Singh also informed the media outlet that the persons engaged are working on this new development. Following the establishment of the principles, a committee will be formed to develop a procedure for carrying it out. This group would also work with the NTA and the Ministry of Education to coordinate efforts.
Delhi University is one of the most well-known and sought-after educational institutions in the country. This year, it had approximately 70,000 seats available for UG admissions. CUCET has encountered significant administrative challenges this year as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. With a third wave on the way, the process is expected to slow down once more.
