DU 98th Convocation Ceremony to be Held at its Sports Complex on Feb 26


New Delhi: Delhi University has decided on the date of February 26, to carry out its 98th convocation ceremony at the Multipurpose Hall of the university’s Sports Stadium Complex. 

During its 97th convocation ceremony last year, DU had become the first institution in India to award “digital degrees” to its 1,78,719 students. Later, the same procedure was taken up by a few other institutions such as IIT Kanpur

The 98th convocation ceremony will be conducted on Saturday, February 26, 2022 from 10 a.m. onwards.

Last year’s ceremony was conducted in a hybrid manner- a mix of online and offline event. 

However, this year, the varsity has yet announced whether the ceremony would be held in a physical mode or virtual mode. 

The notification from the university stated that the students may follow the university’s official website i.e. du.ac.in to receive regular updates on the convocation. 

During the last year’s ceremony, over 156 medals and 36 prizes were conferred to students by the Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, the chief guest of the ceremony in 2021. Along with this, over 600 doctoral degrees were also conferred to students in person during the convocation. 

In May, 2022, DU will also celebrate 100 years of the varsity’s establishment and DU has allocated a fund of Rs. 10 crore for the ceremony purpose. 

Discussing the ceremony, the university’s Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh has urged the university and its affiliated colleges- an integral part of the university community to propose programmes and constructive events that can help in creating ample opportunities and memories for the students as well as the teachers of the varsity. 

We may rededicate ourselves towards the cause of furthering higher education in our country to help all-round growth and development of the University in particular and academic milieu of the nation at large”, the VC further added. 

Recently, the varsity has officially confirmed that it will use CUCET for UG Admission from the admission year 2022. With this, Students who are seeking admission in DU Affiliated Colleges will have an equal chance during admission
