Delhi University is mulling to implement the Central Universities Common Entrance Test, CUCET in the academic year 2022-23 in accordance with the UGC rules.
According to the directions laid out by the higher education regulator, UGC, the Delhi University has planned to implement the CUCET from the next academic session 2022-23.
Initially the CUCET was planned to be implemented this year, but due to the pandemic, the varsity cancelled it. If the CUCET is implemented next year, there might be a lot of changes in the admission process.
According to the reports, authorities familiar with the development of this matter have planned to hold a discussion very soon.
The proposal of approving CUCET might be placed before the executive council and academic council of the varsity. These steps are being taken because the Varsity has received some information from the commission.

The implementation of CUCET in the varsity for the next academic session has already divided people. Many authorities and teachers have raised questions and concerns regarding the validity of such entrance exams.
In contrast, others who have a positive attitude towards the CUCET implementation believe that having the same entrance exams for admissions will guide in streamlining the admission process in a smooth manner.
According to the reports, some of them have raised objections on the possibility of discrimination with CUCET. Some people have highlighted that it wouldn't be advantageous to the students hailing from marginal backgrounds and for those who choose to change their disciplines.
The Varsity's idea of implementing CUCET has created chaos among the people who are trying to understand the logic behind it. However, the reports suggest the rise of the possibility of discussions, while there's no concrete decision made on it.
Currently, the Delhi University has not yet made any official confirmation regarding the adoption of CUCET.
