Delhi University Held Open House Discussion on NEP 2020 on Dec 16, 2021; Check Event Details Here


Delhi University organized an Open House Discussion session on National Education Policy 2020 on December 16, 2021. The one-day-long discussion session was held at the Convention Center of the North Campus, Delhi.

This open event of Delhi University was conducted in collaboration with the Institute of Life Long Learning (ILLL), University of Delhi, and the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). 

DU Open House Discussion Program 2021 included discussions on National Education Policy 2020 and emphasized its benefits on National Professional Standards for Teachers and National Mentoring Mission.

During the open event, Vice-chancellor, Prof. Yogesh Singh stated that implementation of National Education Policy, NEP 2020 is not only essential, but also curicual to offer a value-based learning experience to students of India. 

Teachers and faculty members need to have an open mind for learning and introspecting the changes made by NEP 2020 in the education system, he added. 

Adding to the statement, Mr. Sarangi, IAS, Chairman said that the main goal of NEP 2020 is to offer 21st century skills to students and add value to the Indian education system. The changes are necessary to offer students a better education environment. 

The first panel of DU Open House Discussion Program 2021 focused on National Professional Standards for Teachers (NPST). The discussion panel was chaired by Prof. Anita Rastogi of Jamia Millia Islamia.

During the discussion session, the few panelists discussed various teacher education methods under NEP 2020. While others shared their opinions on the role of culture, knowledge, education, and space for creativity in teaching methodology. 

The second panel of the session mainly focused on the National Mentoring Mission. The panel began with a presentation on various mentoring schemes and how it is an impactful and integral part of National Education Policy 2020. 

DU Open House Discussion Program 2021 second panel was hosted by Professor PK Mishra. At the panel, the professor stated that there should be no apprehension in exchange of ideas and learning. 

The one-day-long program DU was held in the presence of Vice-chancellor, Prof. Yogesh Singh, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. P.C. Joshi, Mr. S.K. Sarangi, IAS, Chairman, NCTE, NCERT Director Prof, Sridhar Srivastava, Ms. K.Y. Sherpa, Member Secretary NCTE.

Additionally, Prof. Saroj Sharma of NIOS, Ms. K.Y. Sherpa, and Prof. Ratnabali, Dean Academic, Activities and Projects, University of Delhi also shared their ideas during the panel sessions.
